LOW WATER TEMP – Zodiac MagnaPool & Exo

A few years ago Zodiac released the MagnaPool Hydroxinator IQ and Exo Salt Water Chlorinator. These models now have  incorporated a water temperature sensors. Now you may be asking “what’s the point of a temp sensor”, “can’t i just put my toe in to test the temp?”. Yes you can still dip your toes in but there are logical reasons why, with the addition of WIFI models that can be app controlled it gives you the ability to see your water temp anytime, but also & more importantly it enables the system to go into Cold Water Protection depending on the reading. Below we will explain:

Cold Water Protection

Cold water protection what is this? Simply put it enables the system to automatically adjust your Production Output Percentage depending on the water reading, which can give your cell a longer life by not over producing chlorine.

If water temp is below 10 degrees or lower chlorine production is dropped to 0% and is not changeable. You will not be able to increase production until the temp of the water increases, this can happen during the day depending on your climate. In colder weather algae/ bacteria is developed slower so low production is usually not and issue. If any issues arise test your pool water at your local Pool Store.

When your water temp is between 10-15 degrees by default the systems goes into low/ cover mode which puts production at 10%. When this happens the temp will flash in the left hand corner as well as a “LOW TEMPERATURE” message is alternately displayed. You can enter the main menu and change cover mode settings for production to be from 10-30% if you need.

Finally when your water temperature is above 15 degrees the system goes back to your normal programming.

Below we have added a quick video showing you the different set ups & most importantly how to go into your menu and increase low/cover mode set point.
